Keyboard including touchpad (TP) / without DVD tray
This keyboard is for models without an optical drive (DVD) and with a conventional touchpad.
Within the same model series, there are keyboards with and without an optical drive (DVD) and with a conventional touchpad (TP) or with a precision touchpad (PTP). If the wrong keyboard is selected, it could be that the identical keyboard fits but does not work.
When the keyboard is removed, there is a small white label on the underside of the keyboard, directly on the touchboard, to indicate whether it has a PTP. This label then says “PTP”. A photo of the underside and the touchboard is also helpful for us to identify the keyboard.
If it is not possible to remove the keyboard and the manufacturer number of the keyboard is not known,
for some models, we can also find out the required keyboard for your notebook from the model designation. Please state this model number when ordering.
You've found this article over a part number. We'll check if it's the correct sparepart for your machine. To do this, please insert the manufacturer and the name of the model in the order comment.
No, unfortunately this is not possible. Even if it seems more sustainable to replace just a single key, laptop manufacturers and specialist retailers such as IPC Computer do not offer individual keycaps or retaining clips.
There are many reasons for this:
Unfortunately, you can only install keyboards in your laptop that are designed exactly for your housing. A model with a numeric keypad is significantly wider and therefore does not fit mechanically into a device that was originally designed without a numpad. Similarly, a keyboard without a numpad would be too small for a larger case and could not be attached securely.
If you still need a numeric keypad, an external USB solution is the best choice. In our store you will find a selection of suitable external keyboards and accessories that you can easily connect.
To protect your laptop keyboard from defects in the long term, you can achieve a lot with a few simple but effective measures:
Tip: For stationary use, it is advisable to close the laptop and use an external USB keyboard.
If the keyboard on your laptop no longer responds, both software errors and hardware defects are possible causes. Here is an overview of what you can check yourself and when a visit to the workshop is advisable.
