Identify the laptop model

The exact model name is usually on a label on the back of the laptop. You need it to identify the laptop model.

Alternatively, you can find it out using the Windows Command Prompt.

Finding out your model name and serial number using the Command Prompt

First, you will need to open a command Prompt. To do this, press the Windows key, then type "cmd" and press enter.

To find out, what the model name of your notebook is enter the following in the Command Prompt and press the enter key:

wmic csproduct get name

To find out, what the serial number of your notebook is, enter the following in the Command Prompt and press the enter key:

wmic bios get serialnumber

Press the Windows and R Button at the same time, to open the the "Run" prompt.

Enter "msinfo32" in the text field and then click "OK" or hit the "Enter"-key.

A new Window will open with detailed information about the hard- and software of your PC.


Identify Acer Model

Indication: You can see here, where the serial number or the SNID code is located.


Identify Alienware Model

Indication: The Model No. in the battery compartment (here: P01E) is not relevant.


Identify Asus Model

Indication: The MB Ver. (mainboard version number) differs from the model number on some Asus laptops.

Identify Clevo Model

Indication: The model code can also be found in the serial number.

Indiciation: The Model No. (here: PP41L) is not relevant.
